Indonesia fails to lobby OPEC

Saturday, February 12 2000 - 04:00 AM WIB

Indonesia's relatively low production quota set by OPEC currently at 1.2 million barrel per day, from previous level of 1.5 million bpd indicated the poor ability of the country's lobbyist.

Oil analysts Ramses Hutapea said that Indonesia should have a larger production quota due to its greater number of population and oil production potential.

He said although the quota mechanism had been able to increase international oil price, but Indonesia should have a greater quota.

He said that the lobbyist should work harder in order for the country to get a greater quota.(*)
