Imam Satria Utama of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation recently stated that the country recorded the availability of 368 units of national operating coal vessels provided by 33 companies in 2012, available to carry an accumulative load of 10.44 million tons.

Out of the total 33 companies, PT Kartika Samudra Adi Jaya is reported to provide the most number with 37 units.

Imam stated that there's no national vessel that provides overseas coal transport services yet. "We hope to provide such an opportunity (of overseas coal transport) to national vessels, possibly within the next five years," he said today in Jakarta.
