Indonesia, Japan firms sign $23.6 billion in business agreements at Tokyo forum

President Prabowo Subianto oversaw the signing of business agreements worth $23.63 billion between Indonesian and Japanese companies at a forum in Tokyo, according to a statement from the Presidential Staff Office.
The agreements, announced at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, include 10 memoranda of understanding and strategic partnerships across sectors such as energy, oil and gas, petrochemicals, manufacturing and finance.

The deals include:
A methanol production project utilizing carbon emissions in Bontang, East Kalimantan, between PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur and PT Kaltim Methanol Industri.
1. A cooperation agreement on trade, commerce and investment between Kamar Dagang dan Industri Indonesia and Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
2. A strategic partnership for the development of the Abadi gas field in the Masela block between PT Pertamina (Persero) and INPEX Corporation.
3. A separate memorandum on upstream oil and gas cooperation in Indonesia and Southeast Asia between PT Pertamina Hulu Energi and INPEX.
4. A semiconductor ecosystem development agreement covering chip design, manufacturing and artificial intelligence between PT Eblo Teknologi Indonesia and Hayashi Kinzoku Co., Ltd.
5. A geothermal development study agreement for the Rajabasa project between PT Supreme Energy Rajabasa and INPEX.
6. A financial cooperation agreement to support Indonesia’s gold ecosystem and financial inclusion between PT Pegadaian and PT Bank SMBC Indonesia.
7. A strategic partnership in the beauty sector between PT Nose Herbal Indo and 2Way World.
8. An aviation leasing fund agreement involving Danantara, Mandiri Investment Management and SMBC Aviation Capital.
9. An investment cooperation agreement between JETRO and PT Danantara Investment Management.
10. A geothermal power project agreement involving the government and Japan International Cooperation Agency for the Hululais project.
The Presidential Staff Office said the agreements reflect growing business confidence and expanding economic cooperation between Indonesia and Japan across multiple sectors.
