?We mentioned in our bid document that our gas for Tatan will come from Bontang and Tangguh,? said Trijana Kartoaatmodjo, deputy chairman of BPMIGAS.
BPMIGAS, which holds the highest authority over the country?s upstream oil and gas sector, led Indonesia?s parties in the competition to supply gas to Taiwan, the official said.
Indonesia has a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan province, while the Tangguh, Papua, LNG plant will be built late this year, or early 2004. Another LNG plant is located in Aceh.
The tender for the Tatan power natural gas supply contract closes March 24. The power plant is planned to have capacity to generate 4,000 megawatts of electricity.
Taiwan imports LNG from Indonesia and Malaysia. (godang)
