Indonesia has been chosen as the partner country for the next event of Bauma, the world's largest trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment which will take place from April 15 to 21, 2013 in Munich.
On May 2, 2012, on the occasion of the ConBuild Mining Indonesia Trade Show in Jakarta, Djoko Kirmanto, Minister of Public Works of Republic of Indonesia, Klaus Dittrich, Chairman and CEO of Messe Munchen International, and Walter Hess, the VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V.)'s Special Envoy for the bauma Partner Country of Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Djoko said that being a partner country of bauma 2013 is a good opportunity to promote Indonesia as developing market.
"We expect the event to attract new investment for Indonesia's infrastructure, to provide the Indonesian industry with bauma as the world's biggest platform for their business activities, while strengthening business networks between Indonesian companies and bauma exhibitors," he added.
Klaus Dittrich said that Indonesia was chosen due to its population of 238 million, a gross domestic product of 720 billion US dollars (2010) and now one of the 20 largest economies in the world.
"The country's building industry is booming and also in the raw materials sector major investment is scheduled for the medium term, all of which are good reasons why bauma should focus more closely on this economic region and the exciting opportunities it offers for the future," he said.
