Indonesia plans second wind power plant

South Sulawesi will host Indonesia's second wind-powered power plant, with the capacity of 70 MW and investment requirement of Rp1.5 trillion.

The plant, which will be located in Watang Pulu, Sidrap, will be developed by UPC Renewables of the United States and local firm PT Binatek Energi Terbarukan, according to the Sidrap Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Sudirman Bungi.

Indonesia currently has one wind power plant, located in Bantul, Jogjakarta with the capacity of 50 MW.

Sudirman said, as reported by fajar.co.id, said the planned development of the power plant was based on the results of study and analysis finalized in 2007. (*)
