Indonesia Power boosts power plants security on intelligence warning

Several power plants operated by PT. Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state electricity firm PLN are reportedly targeted by terrorist network and the management had step up security measures around the power plants, a company source said Friday.

?We are warned by state intelligence agency (BIN) that Suralaya, Saguling and Tanjung Priok power plants are targeted by terrorist network. We have coordinated security arrangement with related authorities and now we have deployed more security personnel to safeguard those plants,? said the source who asked for anonymity.

Suralaya, a 3,400 MW combined cycle power plant is located at the western tip of Java, while 1300 MW Tanjung Priok gas powered power plant located in Jakarta. Saguling is a 898 MW hydro power plant, located in Purwakarta. The three power plants are the backbone of Java electricity supply. (godang)
