PT Indonesia power, a subsidiary of state electricity company PLN which operates Suralaya power plant expects its power generating unit that had been shut down since early last month would be able to resume full operation in the first week of august.

?We are now repairing the unit. Expert from Mitsubishi, the turbine maker had been flown from Japan to help speed repairing process.? Said Indonesia power president Firdaus Akmal on a sideline of IIOGE conference in Bali Sunday.

The 600 MW power generating unit called Suralaya VI was shut down due ?technical problem?.

The coal-fired power plant operates six power generator units. Power plants I to IV has a generating capacity of 400 MW each while the power units V and VI has a capacity of 600 MW each.

Firdaus said the company had rescheduled some coal shipping from state coal mining company to avoid excess stockpile.

The Suralaya power plant needs at least 11 million tons of coal annually. (alex)
