P.T. Indonesia Power (IP), a wholly owned subsidiary of state electricity firm PLN said it had participated in a bid for construction of 4 power plants tendered by parent company under IPP scheme, a company official said on Wednesday.

IP Director Bambang Istiedi said that IP, along with undisclosed partners, were submitting PQ bid for Pasuruan 500-MW combined cycle in East Java, Central Java?s 2x600 coal-fired, Bali 2x100MW coal-fired and East Kalimantan 2x25 coal-fired.

PLN opened bid for construction of 6 power plants in April this year. PLN has to extend PQ bid closing date due to overwhelming interest from participants, which included Japan?s heavyweights Marubeni, Sumitomo and Mitsubishi. Some 102 firms took part in the PQ bidding, acting PLN CEO Djuanda Nugraha Ibrahim said last month. He said PLN would announce winners? names in December.

We?re still waiting for the PQ results, but IP is confident to pass the PQ,? Bambang said, declining to reveal its partners on confidentiality agreement ground. (godang)
