Indonesia Power eyes more power plants outside Java

IP's pesident director Abimanyu Suyoso said IP is currently participating in the tenders for at least five power plants in outside Java under IPP scheme. They include Nunukan, Tarahan and Kupang power plants.
? There will be classes of 7 MW, 14 MW and 25 MW. We are planning to invite local investors to invest money in these plants,? Abimanyu said.
Most of them are coal-fired power plants and the remaining are gas turbined power plants.
IP is also interested in operating the 1x600-700 MW new Suralaya coal-fired power plant, Abimanyu added.
The government has expected that the new Suralaya plant, one of the 10 power plants that to be built on a priority basis, will commence its operations by 2009. (*)
