A consortium of local companies led by Indonesia Power had yet to secure funding to develop Banjar Sari 2x100 MW mine mouth power plant in Tanjung enim, South Sumatra, an official said.
“There have been talks with potential lenders from China and Japan, but they all insisted that the credit came in one package with EPC, which is unacceptable for the consortium,” said PTBA president Ismet Harmaini, whose company holds 24 percent stake in the consortium.
Ismet said the consortium would continue to approach the lenders.
The power plant is originally expected to commence operations in 2005. The plant will consume 1.2 million tons of coal, which will be supplied from PTBA’s Tanjung Enim mine.(alex)
