Indonesia Power re-tenders Suralaya coal supply

Monday, September 10 2007 - 02:42 AM WIB

PT Indonesia Power, the power generation unit of state owned electricity firm PLN, said on Monday that it would re-tender the contract to supply coal in 2008 for the 3400-MW Suralaya power plant since the first tendering process only attracted two bidders.

Suralaya's Operation Director Ahmad Sadikin told Petromindo.Com that the re-tender  process would be carried out "shortly", without providing details.

Earlier, Suralaya's GM Bambang Susianto told Petromindo.Com that up to the first tender's closing date of Sept 7, 2007, only East Kalimantan miners PT Kideco Jaya Agung and PT Berau Coal had submitted bidding documents.

Indonesia Power is looking for 2.5 million tons of coal supply for Suralaya for 2008 to supplement supply from its main supplier PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam. The firm needs coal with calorific value of between 5,042-5,242 Kcal/kg AR. (godang)
