Indonesia Power secures 580kt of spot coal for 2008

PT.Indonesia Power said on Monday it had secured 580,000 tonnes of spot coal from three Kalimantan coal miners for 2008 delivery for its Suralaya 3,400-MW power plant in Banten province.

CEO Tonny Agus Mulyantono said that Berau Coal will supply 240,000 tonnes with CIF price of Rp.950, 000 per tonne (US$Rp.12, 600), Adaro Indonesia will supply 220,000 tonnes with CIF price of RP.910, 000 per tonne and Kideco Jaya Agung will supply 120,000 tonnes with CIF price of 903,000 per tonne.

Tonny said the deal was part of the agreement brokered by government between Indonesia Power?s parent company state electricity firm PLN and coal miners to secure supply for PLN?s power plants.

Tonny also said state coal mining firm PTBA had agreed to increase supply volume to Suralaya by one million tonnes to 6.1 million tonnes in 2009. Tonny said Indonesia Power might pay Rp.880,000 per tonnes CIF for PTBA?s coal in 2009, up from Rp.617,900 per tonne it paid in 2008. (godang/bernard)
