PT. Indonesia Power, subsidiary of state electricity firm PLN, is opening registration for pre-qualification bid to supply coal to its 3,400-MW coal-fired Suralaya power plant in Banten province from 2006 to 2009, the company said in an announcement posted Monday.
The company said the pre-qualification registration was open to traders and national coalminers, which have the capacity to supply more than 1 million tones of coal per annum.
The company did not say the volume of coal it sought, but said that suppliers would be directly appointed.
Indonesia Power has currently term contracts with state coal mining firm PT. Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam and East Kalimantan coal miners PT. Kideco Jaya Agung and Berau Coal.
Suralaya requires some 10 million tones of coal per annum. (alex)
