State owned utility firm PLN's unit PT Indonesia Power will consume around 10-11 million tons of coal this year, a company official told Petromindo.Com Monday.

Six million tons of the volume will come from PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam, and a combined of three million tons will come from Kideco Jaya Agung and Adaro Indonesia. Meanwhile, 1-2 million tons will be sourced from spot markets, Indonesia Power?s operation director Djuwarno said.

Djuwarno refused to mention the spot markets, and did not say whether the 10-11 million tons of coal supply would be enough for his company?s power plants. He only said that the 3,400-megawatt (MW) Suralaya power plant in West Java, the largest power supplier under the Java-Bali system, would receive enough coal this year.

Indonesia Power currently manages and operates eight power plants with a total capacity of 8,327 MW in Java and Bali. (godang)
