Indonesia Power to open coal supply tender for Suralaya

Indonesia Power will hold special tender to procure 2 million tones of coal to anticipate raising coal consumption at its Suralaya 3,400-MW coal-fired power plant in Banten province.
General Manager of Suralaya Bambang Susianto told Petromindo.Com Tuesday that the coal was needed for second semester of 2006 consumption. ?We?re anticipating that Suralaya would operate in full capacity in the second semester due to high demand in Java-Bali electricity system. We anticipate the short-term additional need of 2 million tones, ?he said.
He said that Indonesian Power currently working on the tender to be opened in May. He said that the tender would require 5,100 Kcal/Kg coal.
Suralaya needs some 10 million tones of coal annually, with some 6 million tones supplied by state coal mining firm PTBA and the rest coming from Kalimantan coal miners. (godang)
