PT Indonesia Power has unveiled plans to build new coal-fired power plants in Suralaya area in Cirebon, West Java to meet the increasing trend of demand for electricity.

?I think, we could build two PLTUs in the area. But it is still a discourse,? the Company Secretary Erie Prabowo told Petromindo.com

Erie said that the company was still assessing problems such as financial, facilities of port and coal stockpile as well as environmental impact analysis.

There are currently 8 PLTUs in Suralaya, of which 7 units were operated by Indonesia Power and one unit belonging to the state-electricity company PLN.
