Indonesia, S.Korea to tie up in exploration cooperation

Government of Indonesia and Korea Resources Corporation, an arm of the government of South Korea would soon sign memorandum of understanding to jointly explore for base and precious metal in Way Wajo in East Nusa Tenggara province, Teluk Lahung in Central Kalimantan and Sungai Tubuh and Baturaja in South Sumatra, said Wimpy S. Tjetjep, Director General of Geology and Mineral Resources at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Wimpy said if significant mineralisation were discovered in those areas, the two parties would step up cooperation by forming joint venture company.
He added that similar cooperation to explore for gold in Cianjur, West Java had been signed recently with Korea Institute of Geology, Mining & Materials (KIGAM). (alex/godang)
