Indonesia has secured a US$17 billion financing commitment from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to support national development projects during the 2025-2029 period, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said.
The funding commitment was agreed under a Multi-Year Rolling Pipeline framework during a meeting between Purbaya and AIIB management in Beijing on Wednesday.
Purbaya described the financing as a significant contribution to funding development projects in Indonesia over the next five years.
In addition to the financing commitment, AIIB is considering opening a representative office in Jakarta to strengthen cooperation and improve coordination in the implementation of AIIB-backed projects.
Purbaya said Indonesia welcomed the proposal and expressed hope that the office could begin operations by June 2027.
According to the minister, AIIB reaffirmed its confidence in Indonesia's fiscal management and economic outlook during the meeting.
Purbaya said the outcome of the discussions reflected continued confidence from international financial institutions in Indonesia's economic prospects and the sustainability of the government's fiscal policies.
