Indonesia has signed a memorandum of understanding to develop water treatment and desalination infrastructure aimed at supporting industrial estates, according to a social media post by Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Head of Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM) and CEO of Danantara Indonesia Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.

The agreement involves PT Indonesia Water Solution, PT Danareksa (Persero), CITIC Envirotech and Yantai Jinzheng Eco-Technology Co Ltd.

Rosan said the initiative is intended to strengthen water availability for industrial use, which is seen as a key factor in improving the competitiveness of industrial zones across the country.

The project is expected to support downstream industrial development by ensuring reliable water supply, while also enabling the expansion of new industrial areas.

Rosan also highlighted broader cooperation with China, noting recent discussions with chairman of CITIC Group Xi Guohua, signaling potential for further collaboration beyond the current project.

The desalination initiative comes as Indonesia seeks to accelerate industrial growth and attract investment, with infrastructure development playing a central role in supporting long-term economic expansion.
