Indonesia to have 71 CNG stations and 13 MRUs this year

The government will continue promoting the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles and target to have a total of 71 CNG refuelling stations and 13 Mobile Refuelling Units (MRU) by the end of this year.

The governmnt will build 10 CNG stations and four MRU?s using the state budget in the Jakarta Greater Area (Jabodetabek) and four CNG stations in Semarang, Cenral Java, Isnaini, Head of Oil and Gas Downstream Tranportation at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, said recently in a conference in Yogyakarta.

Besides, he said, the government will also build a mini LNG plant and LCNG station in West Java.

Meanwhile, state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina will build 10 CNG stations and three MRUs in Jabodetabek. State owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) will build six CNG stations in Jabodetabek, two CNG stations in East Java and one CNG station in Riau.

The additional gas supplies needed for the new facilities amount to 7.5 mmscfd for PGN and 5.68 mmscfd for Pertamina.

As of the end of 2013, a total of 32 CNG stations and 6 MRUs had been built in various places of the country in order to reduce the consumption of subsidized oil fuels. The amount of subsidized oil fuels reached 41.7 million kiloliters in 2011, 45 million kl in 2012, 46.25 million kl in 2013. For the year 2014, the government has cut the subsidy oil fuels to 46 million kl in the revised state budget, lower 2 million kl from the intial state budget.
