Trijana Kartoatmodjo, deputy chairman of oil and gas upstream regulator BP Migas, said during the hearing with the House of Representatives? Commission VII which oversees among others energy affairs, said the oil output of the existing fields would fall to 1.004 million barrels per day this year.
However, the nation?s output could be increased to 1.05 million barrels per day thanks to the operation of new fields and some improvement in the operation of some existing fields.
The new fields contribute a total of 24,250 barrels oil per day to the nation?s oil production, according to Trijana.
According Trijana, major oil producers, such as Chevron Indonesia, PT Pertamina and CNOOC, are unable to meet their target output.
Pertamina?s output, for instance, now stands at 89,895 bopd (81.72 percent of the target) and CNOOC?s output at 68,272 bopd (88.75 percent of the target.
Trijana did not explain the reasons that they could not meet their output targets. (Godang)
