Indonesian coal to fire Visayas proposed power plant

Two Indonesian mining firms will supply coal for a proposed 200-MW power plant to be built in Visayas, the Philippines, The Manila Times reported on Thursday.

The report said the plant will consist of two 100-megawatt generating units that will utilize coals from Indonesia-based PT Kasih Industri and PT Surya Sakti Darma Kencana, as well as qualified local suppliers.

The units are expected to start commercial operations in the first half of 2011.

The plant will be jointly built by The Korean Electric Co. (Kepco) and SPC Power Corp. (*)
