Citing export data from the Ministry of Trade, the newspaper said that the volume of tin exports dropped by 23 percent to 5,491 tons in June from 7,150 tons in May, while their value also fell to US$116.83 million from $160.75 million in the same period.
Most of the tin was exported to Singapore and Malaysia during the month.
The ministry?s Director for Exports of Mineral and Industrial Products, Hartojo Agus Tjahjono, said that the drop was partly caused by supply impediments.
?High operating costs hampered production activities in June,? he said.
Indonesia?s monthly tin exports fell to 7,150 tons in May from 7,857.92 tons in April. However, in terms of value, the tin exports in May rose to $160.75 million from $155.35 million in April.
During April and May, the tin was largely exported to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and India. (*)
