Indonesian total power capacity reaches 46,103 MW

State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) reported on Tuesday that as of 2013 Indonesian total power generation capacity has reached 46,103 Megawatt (MW), which are generated by 5,765 power plants across the archipelago.

PLN stated in a press release issued in conjunction with the Indonesia Leaders Talk 2014 from September 3 to 5 at the Jakarta Convention Center, of the total capacity, around 34,205 MW was generated by PLN and the remainder 11,898 MW was generated by the private sector.

The company also reported that the power transmission as of 2013 had reached 39,395 circuit kilometer, medium voltage transmission at 329,465 kilometer, and low voltage transmission at 469,478 kilometers.

It stated that the government through PLN will continue to develop power infrastructure to fulfill the growing demand, which has been growing by around 7 percent per year. In 2013, PLN had developed a total of 4.2 million new power connections so that at the end of 2013 its total customers reached 53,996,208 customers, an increase of about 34,6 percent from 40,117,685 in 2008.

PLN is participating in the ongoing Indonesian Leaders Talks 2014, with a theme ?Acceleration and Expansion of Ecnomic Development during 2011 ? 2025. The event was formally opened by National Development Planning Minister Armida Alisjahbana in Jakarta on Tuesday.
