Indotama to import 15,000 tons of manganese ores from Malaysia

PT Indotama Ferro Alloys would import 15,000 tons of manganese ore from Malaysia, starting in January to meet the ore demand of the firm?s smelter in Purwakarta, West Java, an official of the firm said here.

?We will import 15,000 ton manganese ores from Malaysia next month,? Albiker Manalu, press officer at the firm told Petromindo.com in a text message on Wednesday night.

The importation came as domestic manganese ore supply failed to comply with the demand of the firm, Manalu said.

This year, the firm has imported 22,000 tons of manganese ores from Malaysia and Vietnam as many miners have stopped mining the ores, mostly in eastern part of the country, he said.
