Indragiri power plant needs 48,000 tons of coal a year

Indragiri coal-fired power plant in Riau Province needs 48,000 tons of coal supply a year to operate with 2x600 MW capacity.

"Until now, there is no particular supplier for the facility yet," Head of Coal Division at PT PLN Persero Helmi Najamuddin told to Petromindo.com on Monday.

Helmi added the construction of the project has reached 27.21percent of completion and it is estimated to commence commercial operation in 2017. A consortium comprising of PLN, PT Bukit Asam Tbk and Malaysia's state power utility Tenaga Malaysia Berhad is building the project.

The power plant will supply the electricity to Malaysia.
