The local government of Indramayu regency has threatened to seize the assets of Pertamina?s oil processing unit in Balongan in the regency for ignoring the authority?s demand to pay oil processing tax, Pikiran Rakyat daily reported on Saturday.
The spokesman for the regency?s administration, Mohammad Rakhmad, said in Indramayu on Wednesday that the local authority would soon send a letter to order the seizure of assets of the Balongan oil processing unit.
The threat was made after Pertamina refused to pay the oil processing tax demanded by the regency administration after the Minister of Home Affairs declared that the tax was against the existing laws.
Besides threatening to seize the assets of the Balongan oil processing plants, the authority of Indramayu had also appealed the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of the Minister of Home Affairs to annul the oil processing tax. (*)
