ASX-listed Indus Coal Limited announced on Monday that it has appointed mining engineering consultancy GMS Mining & Infrastructure (GMS) to undertake mine design, planning and engineering for a coal mine on Block 9 and to complete a Feasibility Study for such a coal mine in its Jambi mine area.
GMS are collaborating on this work with lndus? Jakarta based staff who are all experienced in the Indonesian coal sector and who are all employed by Vinay Hariani?s PT Param Energy.
Indus also announced progress on the 9,000 meter HQ core drilling program at Block 9 of the Jambi Coal Projects.
To date the 6 Jacro drilling rigs have completed 20 holes and another 6 holes are currently in progress.
Executive Director of Indus, Vinay Hariani commented ?All 20 holes to date have intersected Cool Seam A which has an average thickness of 9.8 metres and shows excellent continuity down dip (from outcrop to 600m down dip) and along a strike which is now 4.5km in length.
"From a geological perspective, these 20 holes have substantially de-risked Block 9 and therefore have added enormous value to Block 9. The simple long section of how the various coal seams at Block 9 present show on easily mineable Coal Seam A."
"Our focus has now moved to the mining engineering and the completion of a Feasibility Study for the opening of a coal mine on Block 9 which produces 2MT of thermal coal per annum. To this end, Indus has appointed GMS to assist in the completion of this Feasibility Study."
