ASX-listed Indus Coal Limited reported on Friday that progress on 9,000 meter core drilling program at Block 9 of the Jambi Coal Projects is continuing with positive results.
To date the 6 drilling rigs have completed 8 holes and another 6 holes are currently in progress.
Completed coal outcrop mapping across Block 9 identified 19 coal outcrops in total.
The company said that the most significant of these is a 9-12m thick vertical outcropping seam over a strike length of 4.5km x 1.5km wide (Coal Seam A).
Indus geologists has confirmed that there are several coal seams stratigraphically below the original Coal Seam A outcrops.
All 8 holes from the current drilling program intersected Coal Seam A and another 6 holes are still in progress.
Executive Director of Indus, Vinay Hariani commented ?The first assay results for Coal Seam A are back from the lab and they exhibit the qualities of an export thermal grade coal product sought after by Indian and Chinese power producers. The most pleasing aspect however of the drilling to date on Block 9 is that the coal seams show excellent continuity down dip and along strike as well as consistent thicknesses?.
