Industrial sector drives power sales growth

State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) (PLN) said on Wednesday that power sales grew by 7.82 percent in the first semester of the year (H1 2016) mainly due to rising consumption in industrial sector.
Power sales in H1 2016 reached 105.96 Terra Watt hour (TWh) in H1 2016, compared to 98.27 TWh in H1 2015. Sales in industrial sector rose 5.91 percent during the period.
?Sales in the industrial sector were encouraging, particularly in big-scale industries. Still, the growth has not improved if compared to 2014,? Agung Murdifi, PLN?s Senior Manager of Public Relations said.
