The value of debt owed by industries to state electricity firm PT PLN resulting from the unpaid electricity bills has dropped to Rp 447 billion, according to PLN marketing and distribution director Eddy Widiono.
He noted that the total industrial customers debts to PLN included Rp 160 billion owed by industries in West Java. There was a single big customer owing PLN Rp 20 billion.
If not paid, Eddy said it would endanger PLN's cash flow because the due debt reached about 20 percent of PLN's total revenues.
Eddy noted that PLN still opened its doors wide open for all industries to negotiate payment of unpaid electricity debts because of the implementation of the new tariffs.
He noted that around 78 percent of PLN industrial customers in the I-4 category had accepted the new tariffs and paid their bills fully.
"Now only a number of industries that still could not accept the electricity tariff increase, but we are still opening our doors for negotiations," he said.
Eddy assured its customers that PLN would not cut electricity supplies until December as long as they would agree to pay their debt in installment.
"However, if until the end of that period, they do not want to pay their due debt, we will not anymore sell electricity to such customers," he warned. (*)
