Japanese firm INPEX Corp. has asked upstream authority SKK Migas for permit to open data room on Babar Selaru PSC offshore Maluku province for potential partners.

?At present, we are evaluating and interpreting data on the block. Seismic survey has been completed and we are set to move the next phase. However, we want to farm out in order to find partner(s) to explore the block,? INPEX Indonesia?s VP of Corporate Services Nico Muhyiddin told Petromindo.com.

He refused to unveil the names of the potential partners. He only said the farm-out is expected to be concluded this year.

?There are several major companies operating in Indonesia which are interested to farm in,? Nico said.

The block is located 1,400km southwest of Saumlaki city in the Tanimbar Islands and covers 8,170km square with a water depth ranging from 200m to 2,000m. It is located 60km northwest of the Abadi gas field in the Masela block, also controlled and operated by the Japanese firm.

INPEX has an 85 percent participating interest in the block with PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Babar Selaru, a subsidiary of state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), holds the balance.
