Japanese oil and gas giant Inpex Corporation said plan to transfer a 10 percent interest in Masela block to an Indonesian party continued to be discussed, saying the government will have the final say on who will get the stake.

At present, the block is 60 percent owned by Inpex, 30 percent by Shell, and 10 percent by PT Energi Mega Persada.

"The plan is to transfer a 10 percent participating interest to an Indonesian participant to be designated by Indonesian government," Inpex said in a presentation. It did not elaborate.

Reporting on the Abadi project within the block, it said that it is in the final stage of selecting contractors for front-end engineering and design (FEED) for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) plant to be deployed in the Abadi field. It said the FEED works will "start shortly."
