INPEX completes FEED SURF for Abadi LNG project

INPEX Masela, Ltd, a subsidiary of Japan?s oil and gas firm INPEX Corporation, said it has successfully completed the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) works of Subsea Production System, Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF) for the Abadi LNG Project in Timor Sea.

?We have successfully completed FEED works for SURF and now we are progressing with FEED for FLNG (Floating LNG),? Corporate Communication Manager of INPEX Alfred Menayang told Petromindo.com.

He said the firm is currently aiming to complete the FEED for FLNG by the middle of this year.

?However, this may change subject to ongoing clarifications and discussions with the FEED contractors and/or the regulator,? Alfred said.

Abadi field located in the Masela block, Arafura Sea is one of the major gas fields discovered in eastern Indonesia in 2000. The subsequent six appraisal wells and the reservoir study results confirmed sufficient gas reserves for LNG development. In December 2010, the plan of development (POD) was approved by government that the Abadi gas field would be developed in phases and that a Floating LNG (FLNG) plant would be constructed and utilized for an annual production of 2.5 million tons for the first phase development.

The Masela block (Abadi LNG Project) is operated by INPEX Masela with a 65 percent participating interest, while Shell Upstream Overseas Services (I) Limited, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc, holds a 30 percent participating interest.
