Inpex ready to construct floating LNG plant in Masela block

Japan oil, gas firm Inpex Corp. said that the company is ready to begin the construction of floating LNG plant in Abadi field, Masela Block, Arafura Sea in early 2012.

Inpex CEO Toshiaki Kitamura delivered the message during a meeting with Vice President Boediono today. He was accompanied by Inpex deputy president for Indonesian project, Kenji Kawano and deputy president for Masela project, Hajime Kawai.

During the meeting, Tosihiaki said assuming construction of the floating LNG plant begin in 2012, the company expects to begin producing gas from the block in 2016.

?The Inpex chief reported (to the Vice President) over the progress of the development of the Abadi gas field in Masela Block. They (Inpex) will begin the construction of the project in 2012,? said VP spokesperson Yopie Hidayat.

The Masela Block is estimated to have significant natural gas reserves. The company has secured permit to develop FLNG plant in the block. Initially, the LNG production is expected to reach 2.5 million tons per annum. (roffie)
