INPEX receives permit to open data room

Japanese firm INPEX Corp. has received permit from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas to open room on Babar Selaru block, Maluku province for potential partners.

INPEX?s VP of Corporate Services Nico Muhyidin told Petromindo that with the permit now in the hands of the firm, the firm will start offering the block to international firms for farm-in.

The block is located 1,400km southwest of Saumlaki city in the Tanimbar Islands and covers 8,170km square with a water depth ranging from 200m to 2,000m. It is located 60km northwest of the Abadi gas field in the Masela block, also controlled and operated by the Japanese firm.

INPEX has an 85 percent participating interest in the block with PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Babar Selaru, a subsidiary of state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), holds the balance
