Inpex?s CEO voices commitment during meeting with SBY

Japanese firm Inpex Corporation?s President and Chief Executive Officer Toshiaki Kitamura made a courtesy visit to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the State Palace on Wednesday, where he reinforced the firm?s commitment to Indonesia and explained the recent progress of the Abadi LNG project.

Inpex, as operator, with Shell as a strategic partner, is developing the Abadi gas field into a ?Green-Field Project?, utilizing Floating LNG technology (FLNG) as a pioneer development concept, with an initial LNG production of 2.5 mtpa for 30 years. Inpex is also pursuing future subsequent development with a view to fully utilizing the massive gas resources of the Abadi gas field, the firm said in a statement.

Kitamura expressed his firm believe that the Abadi LNG Project will materialize and enhance the everlasting prosperity of Indonesia and will serve to reinforce the strong and everlasting relationship between Indonesia and Japan.

In Indonesia for more than 47 years since its establishment in 1966, Inpex has conducted 41 projects, and now is actively undertaking 12 on-going exploration, development and production projects in offshore blocks covering the Indonesian archipelago from Aceh to Maluku.

As the result of its proactive oil and gas business activities in Indonesia, Inpex has invested a cumulative amount of approximately US$21 billion. This makes Inpex one of largest Japanese investors in Indonesia.
