Inpex spuds Abadi-10 well, to drill Berkat-1 in April

Japan?s oil and gas firm Inpex Corporation spudded on January 25 the Abadi-10 well in the Masela Block using the Discover Seven Seas rig, according to an official of the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas.

Head of Survey and Drilling Division at SKK Migas, Arief Fanzuri told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that after completing the drilling program at Abadi-10, Inpex is scheduled to drill the Berkat-1 well in April.

Inpex began a series of drilling program in the Masela block in June of 2013 covering three delineation wells Abadi-8, Abadi-9, and Abadi-10 as well an exploration well, Berkat-1. The objective of the 10-month drilling program is to obtain geological, reservoir, and drilling technique data in a bid to optimize drilling program for the expansion of the Abadi gas field, and the prospect of exploring the Berkat field.

The drilling program is a fourth stage and a continuation of the previous survey and drilling activities which have been carried out by Inpex since 2009.The offshore Masela Block, operated by INPEX Masela Ltd, is located in the Arafura Sea.
