Upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said that Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for Masela floating LNG project in Timor Sea would be tendered late this year with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work tender seen to follow in the following year.

Vice Chairman Hardiono told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that evaluation on the project had been completed and concluded that floating LNG plant was the best option to develop the giant block which is operated by Inpex Corp. ?This month, panel report on the project will be submitted to BPMIGAS and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for approval,? he said.

Hardiono said that the schedule would allow Inpex to start construction of the LNG project in 2012.

Based on the plan of development (POD) approved by the government, 4.5 million tons per annum of LNG and 13,000 barrels of condensate per day will be produced by Inpex from Masela using the Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) technology with production expected to start in 2016. (godang)
