Wednesday, October 11 2006 - 09:30 AM WIB
Upstream Director R. Priyono said companies including ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Chevron Corp., Premier Oil and Japex had submitted bidding proposal for the 20 blocks. Only one block called Situbondo onshore East Java failed to attract bidder, he said after formally closing the bid.
The block that attracted most bidders is located onshore South Sumatra, he said, without giving further detail. The blocks that are offered in South Sumatra are Karangagung and Sekayu. Other blocks that are offered are located Sumatra, Java, East Kalimantan and Sulawesi.
The winners will be declared 45 days after bid closing date.
He also said a number of international firms ConocoPhillips, Eni SpA, Total SA, CNOOC and Amerada Hess had submitted proposal to conduct joint study in some frontier areas, including in areas close to Inpex-operated Masela block offshore East Nusa Tenggara. Companies are required to conduct joint study with Directorate general of oil and gas prior to submit direct bidding proposal. (denny)
