Intan Jaya to build refinery plants in Riau

Local company PT Intan Jaya Agromegah Abadi plans to build refinery plants in Tanjung Sauh and Sembulang isles in Riau province, with total investment of about US$10 billion, Kompas reported on Thursday.
President director of PT Intan Jaya, Mappasule said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the construction of the two refineries would be commenced in 2006. "We hope the construction works could be completed in 2010," he said.
"The company will process crude oil from the Middle East. The fuel products will be sold to China and the domestic market," he said following the signing of cooperation agreement between the company and the University of Riau.
He said that under the cooperation agreement, the university would carry out a study on the environmental impact of the operation of the refineries. (*)
