Interex plans full commercial coal operation in 2010

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Interex Sacra Raya said Thursday that it would start fully commercial operation in early 2010 with initial production around 500,000-1 million tons, the company?s director said.

?To the date, we are still review coal setting production for the mine. We expect the result will coming out in the third quarter of this year,? Operation Director Ilda Hermyn told Petromindo.com.

Interex has started coal production but in small quantity, he said without elaborating.

Interex now controlled by Northstar Pacific partners, an investment merchant controlled by businessman Patrick Waluyo.

?Northstar Pacific had bought Interex,? he said without giving further details.

According to Petromindo's data, the old owners of the firm are PT persada Capital Investama (30%), PT Sinar Ganda Jaya (30%), Multi Corporation Ltd. (MULTICO( (30%) and Individual Investor (15%)

Interex signed a third generation PKP2B contract (CCoW) with the government on November 2007. The mine is located in the border areas of Pasir regency in East Kalimantan and Tabalong in South Kaliamantan with mineable reserves of 50 million tonnes. (denny)
