Coal miner PT Interex Sacra Raya is reviewing development plan for its mine in East Kalimantan in order to find a strategy to boost its profitability.
“Interex Sacra is reviewing its mining plan because it is not economic,” company president director Jeffrey Mulyono told Petromindo.Com on Monday.
Jeffrey said the company’s output was too low while the production cost was too high. In January this year, Jeffrey said Interex planned to produce 600,000 tons of coal from its East Kalimantan mines this year with output expected to peak at 2 million tons per annum starting 2009.
The company plans to produce 1 million tons next year. The mine, which is located in Pasir regency, has mineable reserves of 50 million tonnes, said Jeffrey.
The coal produced from the mine is hauled through 80-km road to Kuaro River, where the coal is barged to transshipment location. (Godang)
