East Kalimantan-based coal mining company PT Interex Sacra Raya (ISR) has recently commenced mining and hauling activities with monthly production target of between 20,000 tons and 30,000 tons.

“We started coal mining and hauling operation at the end of July. However, due to an adjustment on our crushing plant, coal production will be delayed for about two weeks (from today),” ISR president Frans Nongka told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday.

Frans said the first shipment of coal product is scheduled for the end of September with destination Japan at a volume of 10,000 tons.

Elsewhere, Frans confirmed that ISR is considering changing its status to foreign investment company following a deal with a foreign investor. However, he declined to give further details.

ISR’s concession area is located in a boundary area of East Kalimantan and South Kalimantan provinces. Based on the feasibility study, the coalmine contains sub- bituminous coal reserves of around 60 million tons with calorific value range from 6,500 – 7,500 kcal/kg. (Robert)
