Interex Sacra makes deal with Dianlia Setyamukti

East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Interex Sacra has made a deal with mining contractor PT Dianlia Setyamukti, an industry source told Petromindo.Com Thursday.

"The deal is to allow Dianlia to carry out mining activities at Interex's concession and to become shareholder in Interex," the source said, but he declined to give more details on the deal.

The source said Interex is targeted to produce one million tons of coal in the first of three-year of coal production.

"Trial production will be started in September this year with production level of around 200,000 tons of coal by the end of 2004," the source said.

He further said that Japanese firms, Sumitomo Corp and Toyota Tsusho Corp,have agreed to buy Interex's products. "Actually, Interex's supply level still lower than the buyers' requirement," the source added without specifying period of agreement.

Interex's concession area is located in boundary of East Kalimantan and South Kalimantan provinces. Based on the feasibility studies, the coalmine in Pasir regency of East Kalimantan contains sub-bituminous coal reserves of around 130 million tons with calorific value range from 5,325 - 7,126 kcal/kg.

Government had recently allow the company to exploit reserves in South Kalimantan side, which was declared as protected forest.

Dianlia is linked to conglomerate Soeryadjaya family. Aside from mining contractor, the company also owns 51 percent stake in Indonesia's top coal producer PT Adaro Indonesia and 50 percent stake in South Kalimantan-based coal terminal operator PT Indonesia Bulk Terminal.(robert)
