Intitirta Primasakti to start coal production this year

Coal mining company PT Intitirta Primasakti has planned to commence coal production at its mining concession in Jambi Province in the second semester this year with an output capacity of between 350,000 and 400,000 tons, the Suara Karya reported Friday.

Intitirta operates a 78,900 hectares open pit coal mining concession in Batanghari and Sarolangun regencies, Jambi Province. The company is a 60 percent-owned by publicly listed PT Duta Pertiwi Nusantara Tbk, while the remaining stake is held by shipping company PT Arpeni Pratama Ocean Line.

The newspaper reported that coal production is expected to increase to 700,000 tons in 2007.

Based on Intitirta?s general survey in 1998, the coalmine contains a coal-measured reserve of around 36 million tons with calorific value ranging from 4,842 - 6,015 kcal/kg. (*)
