Three investors have expressed interest again to develop the coal railroad project connecting Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan after they backed off following last year's massive ethnic violence in Central Kalimantan.
South Kalimantan's Tabalong District Head Noor Aidi said that the investor candidates had recently made a presentation during a meeting with the district administration.
He said that the investors would make presentation in the front of the governors of the three provinces.
Noor said that the US$5 billion coal railroad project would start from Tabalong district to Pasir district in East Kalimantan, about 200 Km, and afterwards to be connected to the Central Kalimantan area.
Noor said that the railroad project would help accelerate the process of shipping of coal from the Tanjung Marua port.
But he could not say when the project would be started.(Amoros)
