IP appoints cooperative to supply coal for Suralaya

PT.Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state electricity firm PLN that runs Suralaya 3,400-MW power plant in Banten province has appointed its cooperative unit to supply 100,000 tonnes of coal for the power plant for one year.

Nur Hasbi, Tender Committee Officer, told Petromindo.Com that Indonesia Power Employees Cooperative Center will start delivering the coal December 2008. Hasbi said Indonesia Power would pay Rp.800,000 (US$=Rp.9,500) CIF per tonne of 5,000 Kcal/kg coal delivered.

Hasbi did not give detail about the source of the coal.

Earlier Indonesia Power had opened tender to supply 1MT of coal to supply Suralaya for one year, which drew tens of eligible bidder including the Cooperative. It?s not immediately clear if the company would open further tender to fill the gap. (godang)
