IP coal spot tender attracts 22 bidders

PT Indonesia Power (IP), a unit of state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said on Friday that the coal spot PQ tender for its 3,400-MW Suralaya power plant in Banten province attracted 22 bidders.

?Of the 22 bidders, 16 are KP (Mining Authorization) holders and 6 PKP2B (Coal Contract of Works) holders. The 6 PKP2B holders include PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and PT Arutmin Indonesia,? IP?s president director Joko Hastowo told Petromindo.com.

The spot tender is just for new suppliers, he said adding that any coal suppliers that still have contract with IP are not allowed to join the bid.

Earlier, spokesperson M. Luthfi told Petromindo.Com that the company is looking for 300,000 tons of coal with average CV of 5,000 Kcal/g (AR) for February to April 2010 delivery. (bernard)
